Joyce E. Ott has been a parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini since 1994. She is a Lector and Eucharist Minister of Holy Communion.
She began her nursing career by earning a Bachelor of Science (BSN) Degree from Duquesne University in 1977, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984. In 2010 Joyce earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Robert Morris University.
Joyce has clinical nursing experience in acute and long term care nursing and worked as a staff nurse, nurse educator, nurse manager, and consultant. She worked as a therapist in individual, group, marital and family with children, adolescents and adults.
Her academic experience is with the Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) programs at Community College Beaver County (CCBC), Community College Allegheny County (CCAC), and the nursing diploma program at Sewickley School of Nursing. She worked in higher education at Carlow University, Duquesne University and currently at Robert Morris University. She was a Program Coordinator and Program Director at Robert Morris University and continues as full-time faculty in the School of Education, Nursing and Health Sciences and Psychology teaching primarily in the Online RN-BSN, RN-MSN, and MSN Programs.
In March 2014 Joyce became commissioned as a Faith Community Nurse through the
Pittsburgh Mercy Parish Nurse and Health Ministry Program. She promotes health and wellness in the parish by providing for spiritual needs, health screening and education, resources, consultation, and advocacy. Joyce became Board Certified as a Faith Community Nurse through the
American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) of the
American Nurses Association (ANA) in December 2017. She is a manuscript reviewer for the
Journal of Christian Nursing since 2015.
In February 2017, Joyce was certified as a Spiritual Strengths Inner Healing Coach through the
Johnson Institute for Spiritual Gerontology and Lifelong Adult Faith Formation. Joyce provides individual confidential sessions to help parishioners identify God-given inner healing gifts to heal brokenness caused by life issues.
Joyce was born June 6, 1955, and graduated from South Fayette High School, McDonald, PA in 1973. She is the only child of the late Helen D.(Horcick) and Joseph A. Alisesky. Joyce married Kenneth Ott in 1987 and has two adult sons, Garrett and Ryan Ott.
