In the gospel we hear Jesus tell us: “Whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because the little one is a disciple—Amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.” This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to “acknowledge the goodness of the Father” by assisting numerous families, providing food, and monetary assistance for utilities, rent and bills. If you or someone you know is in need, please call and leave a message with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at 724.494.8864. All calls are confidential. Thank you!

To All MACH1 Parishioners: Sunday, June 21, 2020, is my last day at the parish grouping for my pastoral year assignment. I just wanted to take the time and thank everyone for such a great year. This year was filled with so many blessings, and the greatest blessing that came from it was that this assignment showed me what it will be like as a priest to fall in love with God’s people that I am called to serve and love. There is a deep love in my heart for all those at the parish grouping and the students and faculty at Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School and Quigley Catholic High School. Although my assignment has come to an end for this year, this is not a final good-bye as I will be around at various times over the next two years during school holiday breaks and part of next summer as a deacon, as I make my journey to the priesthood in 2022. Know of my prayers for you, and I look forward to being with you all again soon. You can contact me at
[email protected]. God bless and thanks again. -- David Schmidt

On Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 7:00PM (with the location yet to be determined) a Baptism Preparation Class will be held. This class is a one-time requirement for parents wishing to have their child baptized. Topics to be covered include: the rich theology of the Sacrament of Baptism, the accompanying sacred commitment of parents to authentically live the Catholic faith and impart the faith to their children in word and action, the symbols of the Rite of Baptism, and the requirements for godparents who regularly practice the Catholic faith to serve as suitable role models and genuine mentors for the child in the ways of faith. (To avoid embarrassment, please do not choose godparents until you know the necessary qualifications for this increasingly critical role in the life of young Catholics.) Let's all make an effort to get two fellow parishioners to sign up to receive our MACH1 Parish Grouping Weekly Bulletin via email. Just direct them to https://www.mach1diopitt.org/mach1-bulletin to complete the simple online form. It would be of tremendous benefit to our parishes as well as our members, and so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your effort and God bless you.

As we celebrate the mystery of the Trinity we also realize the mystery of how much God loves and cares for us each day. Believing in this our lives can then overflow in thanksgiving and praise. Sunday, June 14, 2020, is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). This festive day on the liturgical calendar honors the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist -- Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. In celebration of this as well as thanksgiving for the reopening of the churches in our grouping, we will hold Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in our churches from 12Noon to 3:00PM. Please make time for some quiet prayer before the Holy Eucharist. As the Blessed Sacrament should not be left unattended, please consider signing up for a half-hour time slot on the sheet at the church entrance to ensure these afternoon hours are covered by sufficient adorers. Time with the Lord is always time well spent.
