Second Collection

There will be a Second Collection on the weekend of October 20, 2019 for World Mission Sunday.  Pope Francis has declared this October to be Extraordinary Mission Month in order to foster greater awareness of "missio ad gentes" (Mission to All Peoples) and to animate the missionary transformation of Church life and pastoral activity.  This year's World Mission Sunday theme is "Baptized and Sent: The Church of Christ on Mission in the World."

The Pope invites everyone to "rediscover the missionary dimension of our faith in Jesus Christ, a faith graciously bestowed on us in baptism.  Through our communion with God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - we, together with so many of our other brothers and sisters, are born to new life.  This missionary mandate touches us personally: I am a mission, always: you are a mission, always; every baptized man and woman is a mission...."  Through this annual collection, your donation helps support more than 1,100 mission dependent dioceses in more than half of the world.  Through the work of these churches, their witness to Christ is continuing the on going relationship with today's missionaries.  Please be as generous as your means allow.
