Corpus Christi Procession

A Eucharistic Procession will be held following the 10:00AM Mass at St. Titus Church as the Church Universal celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ on Sunday, June 2, 2024.  The procession route will take those participating from St. Titus Church to the Aliquippa Library, then back to the church.  After Benediction, refreshments will be available in Titan Hall.

This day on the liturgical calendar as in previous times is titled 'Corpus Christi Sunday'.  Catholic teaching states that Christ becomes truly present at the consecration.  And as promised by Him, His Presence is abiding; not something that vanishes at the conclusion of Mass.

As Catholics, when looking at a crucifix we understand how much Jesus loved us THEN; when looking at the Sacred Host, we understand how much Jesus loves us NOW.

“I believe in my heart and openly profess that the bread and wine which are placed upon the altar are by the mystery of the sacred prayer and the words of the Redeemer substantially changed into the true and life-giving Flesh and Blood of Jesus Christ Our Lord; and after the Consecration, there is present the true Body of Christ which was born of the Virgin Mary and offered up for the salvation of the world, hung upon the Cross, and now sits at the right hand of the Father, and there is present the true Blood of Christ which flowed from His side. They are present not only by means of a sign and of the efficacy of the Sacrament, but also in the very reality and truth of their nature and substance."  (Pp. St. Gregory VII)

On this day, what more can we state other than to repeat the words of Thomas the Apostle, "My Lord and My God!"
