Capuchin 150th Anniversary Mass

As the Capuchin Province of St. Augustine celebrates 150 years as a Province in the U.S., a local celebration of this Anniversary has been planned in Beaver County for Sunday, August 20, 2023. The celebration will consist of a 10:30AM Mass at St. Cecilia Church (628 Virginia Ave., Rochester, Pa 15074) followed by a social in the church hall.  As the Capuchins have served in Freedom, Conway, and Rochester for 114 years; and more recently, at McGuire Home and the Parish of Our Lady of the Valley, it is hoped that people from throughout Beaver Valley and surrounding vicinities will come to celebrate this Anniversary Mass.

Friar Don Lippert, OFM Cap., Bishop of the Mendi Diocese in Papua New Guinea, have been invited to preside at the Liturgy, and Friar Bob Marva, OFM Cap., the Provincial of St. Augustine Province, to preach.

The following friars, who also served in Beaver County, are hoping to join in this celebration: Bill Talentino, Ward Stakem, Bill Graham, Leon Leitem, Greg Brown, Jim Menkhus and Bill Henn.

This invitation goes out to all parishes in Beaver County in the hope that those who
know and have been served by the Capuchins may see this as a grand opportunity to reconnect with friars you have known from years past. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this 150th Anniversary Mass and Social.
