Befriending the Holy Souls - Understanding Purgatory

As Catholics, we believe that the Church exists in three “states” or “modes of existence.” The Church Militant (we pilgrims here on earth) and the Church Triumphant (Saints in Heaven) are the two states of existence with which most people are familiar. However, the Church truly exists in another state which is between the Church in Heaven and the Church on Earth. That is, the Church Suffering, the Holy Souls of Purgatory. The month of November is dedicated to these souls in a special way.
