Dear Parishioners,
The “Scrutinies” are special rites that occur within Mass during the 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays of Lent, when members of the Elect are invited to enter a time of deeper resolve in order to hold fast to Christ and live in true freedom as a child of God. The 'Elect' are those who are preparing to recieve the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil. Additionally, in this year's Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) Class we have a number of Candidates. 'Candidates' are those who will complete their initiation by receiving the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion also during the Easter Vigil Mass. At this very special Mass, both the Elect and the Candidates will enter into full membership in the Catholic Church.
