Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
My Dear Parish Family,
It is very fitting that we celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception (December 8) in the midst of the Advent Season. Advent is a season of preparation. It is a season in which we take time to prepare our hearts for the coming of our Lord. From the moment of her Immaculate Conception, Mary’s heart was prepared by the Holy Spirit in a unique way to receive Jesus. Thus, Mary serves as our model for the Advent Season. The best way we can prepare our hearts for receiving Jesus is by going to Mary. When Mary said “yes” to God’s will, she brought Jesus into the brokenness of our world; and if we say “yes” to Mary, she brings Jesus into the brokenness of our hearts. The quickest way to Jesus is through Mary.
