Solemnity of Christ the King; Report on Fundraisers
My Dear Parish Family,
On this last Sunday of our liturgical year, it is appropriate that we celebrate such a great solemnity - the Solemnity of Christ the King. In the 1920s, Pope Pius XI instituted the Feast of Christ the King in response to a growing trend toward secularization, communism, and atheism. The Pope knew that, as Christians, we should make Our Lord preeminent in every aspect of our lives.
My brothers and sisters, do not be afraid to open wide the doors of your hearts to Christ’s reign. Rather take comfort in the words that St. John Paul the Great once spoke: “Someone exists Who holds in His hands the destiny of this passing world ... And this Someone is Love.” Jesus is the King of Love and He desires to reign in your heart.

In this weekend’s bulletin there is the complete report on the tremendous effort you, our parishioners, put forth this past year with the many fundraisers that were held at Mary, Queen of Saints Parish. Your time, talent and treasure brought forth an amazing contribution of $95,000 to the parishes general operating fund. Along with Father Joachim, I would like to thank every parishioner who volunteered their time, donated in any way, or came out to support our events. It takes a great amount of work to do the things you have done and for that we are truly blessed at MQS
In the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
