Dear Parish Family,
Greetings in the Lord Jesus, the Good Shepherd and Sovereign King.
St. Monica's Tears
I think we all have someone in our family who is away from the Church. Some because of tepidity or apathy, some who’ve been hurt by a priest, others who perhaps blame God for a disappointment, and we can think of a whole list of other reasons. Some have even gone outside the Church and identify as a believer of another kind of community. Most probably still would say they are Catholic, but have drifted far from the practice of our beautiful Faith. I have heard from many, many of you who have a child and or grandchildren who are no longer going to Mass, and this is a burden on you. You are not alone.
Join us for “Saint Monica’s Tears: An Evening of Intercessory Prayer". We will come together to pray for our children and grandchildren and family who are away from their spiritual home. As a community we will pray together for each other’s family members. Together, and supporting each other, we will unite in prayer before the Altar of God for our loved ones to be given grace and light.
Join us on at 7:00PM on Thursday, November 18th at St. Titus Church.
The Culture Project Missionary
Johni Beeler is a 26 year old graduate from Saint Vincent College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and will be serving her fifth year of mission with The Culture Project International.
She spent her first year of mission in Toledo, Ohio, the second and third year serving in Los Angeles, California, and the fourth year virtually serving Los Angeles during COVID. This year Johni will be serving at the Headquarters of The Culture Project in Philadelphia. She is working as part of the Formation Department, preparing the missionaries for the field and continuing their spiritual and intellectual growth throughout the year.
Johni joined The Culture Project because it promotes a culture of life, love, and truth as the missionaries give talks to students on the messages of Theology of the Body. She is looking for members of the church to provide contact information in order that this young missionary may share more about herself, the mission, and then invite you to join the mission by joining her financial support team. Johni will speak at all of our churches the weekend of November 20/21.
Bad News/Good News
Last week the boiler at St. John the Baptist Church caught on fire. Thanks be to God, it was contained and no damage was done to our beautiful church! Insurance is covering the cost to replace it. The bad news is that it means that for now, it will be cold in the church. But! The more body heat we can muster by dragging our lapsed family members and neighbors to Mass, the warmer it will be! Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this project.
In the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts,
Fr. Jean-Luc, OSB
