A very special ticket is being offered in association with the upcoming parish Winter Carnival. If you are lucky enough, “The Monks” will come to the winner’s home to make and serve a dinner to you and your guests (for a total of up to 12 people). This dinner will be a tour of America, Italy, and then back to Beaver Valley. The dinner includes:
CLASSIC AMERICAN COCKTAILS
‘The Dinner Party Tour’ begins in the USA with your mixologist Fr. Canice — in Kentucky with the Lexington Old Fashioned or in NYC with a Big Apple Martini.
RETRO APPETIZER
We need something salty to go with our drinks. How about… a throw-back to 1977 in the Valley with Hot Chipped Beef Dip and Ritz! Oh yeah! Don’t deny it! 'Yinz' were eating that stuff in the game room, listening to the hi-fi, waiting for the next episode of "Charlie’s Angels"! Now, let’s go across the Atlantic for the middle courses of our dinner! Italy, here we come!
PRIMO PIATTO
We land in beautiful Tuscany for our first plate: Cavatelli Rustica — Pasta, sausage, spinach, and cannellini beans (w/ a Chianti Classico)
IL SECONDO
Onto the beautiful Isle of Capri for our salad, a variation on a classic — Insalata Caprese Americano (Mozzarella, tomatoes, sweet basil and... KEN’s Ranch Dressing! (We don’t want to forget that we’re from ‘Merica, dagnabit! (w/ a Pinot Grigio)
PIATTO PRINCIPALE
Now back onto the mainland for a dish that may have begun in Naples, but has been perfected in any number of basement kitchens in our parish — Spaghetti in Red Sauce w/ Meatballs! Amazingly, the onion, garlic, basil and parsley (NO oregano!) are gently coaxed to release their fragrances into the tomatoes. But once it makes its way to your plate, no visible evidence of their presence remains; only their mild flavors, which have mingled together into this velvety sauce that clings perfectly to the thin spaghetti. (w/ a Cabernet Sauvignon)
DESSERT
Italian cities are nice, but we have become weary of smog, humidity, no kind of traffic pattern, horns,...and confusing streets. We need some American smog, humidity, traffic,... and confusing streets! For dessert, we’re going to Chicago;... or perhaps Latrobe? No. Nowhere but our own Beaver County for Fr. Joachim’s famous CHEESECAKE!
Tickets for a chance to win this Special Dinner Party will go on sale the weekend of 3/19&20 after all Masses at $20 per ticket.
