Congratulations Deacons Marvenko and Samchuck
Dear Parish Family,
Last Saturday, October 1, 2022, Bishop Zubik ordained two sons of our parish to the diaconate. Mark Marvenko and Joseph Samchuck were ordained at St. Paul Cathedral along with 15 others. After years of prayer, study, and formation, they were finally called to the altar on Saturday and were indelibly marked; configured now to Christ, the Servant. They are to be commended for their sacrifice and commitment, and we are grateful to Almighty God that they persevered!
Deacon Joe Basko and I tried really hard to make the argument that we needed both of them assigned here with us at Mary, Queen of Saints. We had a string of bullet points to help our case; but alas, we were not successful. Deacon Mark will be across the river at Our Lady of the Valley in Beaver and Rochester, where he will be well-received and appreciated. Our loss is their gain.
The good news is that Deacon Joseph will remain here with us! Just like Mark, he is prayerful, kind, and eager to be a servant to all of you here at MQS. Father Canice, Father Joachim, and I are grateful to have him here, along with Deacon Bob and Deacon Joe.
Please pray for both of these new deacons as they begin their ministry.
Deo Gratias!
In the Immaculate and Sacred Hearts,
Fr. Jean-Luc
