Installation Mass and Reception
Dear Parish Family,
On Saturday, November 5, 2022 Bishop Zubik will be coming to Mary, Queen of Saints Parish to install Father Canice as pastor at the 4:30 p.m. Mass (SFC). Please make every effort to come and pray for and support your new Pastor, and our friend, Father Canice. We are already planning the reception which will follow in O’Connell Hall. This will be a wonderful way forward for our beloved parish family.
As you know, Father Canice is a holy priest, a priest with a heart after the Heart of Jesus. He has a great devotion to the Most Blessed Sacrament and offers the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with reverence and humility. He has a tender devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom he turns for her maternal intercession, especially in the Holy Rosary. He is faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church, and he faithfully hands on what he has received with a zeal for the salvation of souls. He has gifts for oversight and administration, and will be a responsible and effective leader for our parish. I am grateful to Almighty God that these many gifts, which we have all seen up close over the past two years in Father Canice are also recognized by Archabbot Martin and Bishop Zubik. Our Lady, Queen of Saints, also had a role in this appointment by her powerful intercession, I know.
Let us keep Father Canice and our other outstanding, generous, holy and gifted priest, Father Joachim, in our prayers. They both have been good Confreres to me, supportive brothers and good friends. The news that these two beautiful priests will remain here with you as Pastor and Vicar is a great consolation to me as I prepare to conclude my ministry here. Clearly the Lord Jesus is protecting and blessing our Parish in powerful ways!
In the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
Father Jean-Luc, OSB

Office of the Bishop
October 11, 2022
Dear Sisters and Brothers at Mary, Queen of Saints Parish:
My prayers are with you as [we] move through these last months of 2022.
One of the most important responsibilities I bear as Bishop is to provide for the spiritual care of our faithful of the Church of Pittsburgh. It is with great joy that following the recommendation of Archabbot Martin Bartel, OSB, I have appointed Father Canice McMullen, OSB as Pastor of Mary, Queen of Saints Parish for a term of six years. This appointment will take effect Tuesday, November 1, 2022. As you know, Father Canice is an outstanding priest, and he will continue to serve you with all the love in his heart as he has done for the last two years but now in a new capacity. I know that you will support him with all your love in return. In addition, Father Joachim Morgan, OSB continues as your Parochial Vicar.
Over the course of the last week, I have received a number of emails and letters from you about your outgoing pastor, Father Jean-Luc Zadroga, OSB. I agree with you that Father Zadroga is a wonderful priest. He has served Mary, Queen of Saints Parish through the important transition from four former parishes to the new parish of Mary, Queen of Saints. As of November 1, Father Jean-Luc will be returning back to the Monastery at Saint Vincent and will be given a new assignment by Archabbot Martin.
In closing, I ask for your prayers for Father Jean-Luc, Archabbot Martin, Father Canice and for me. Thank you especially for your patience with me as I seek to do the best job that I can as your Bishop.
Grateful for our continued efforts together in being
On Mission for The Church Alive!, and for our belief that "Nothing is Impossible with God," I am
Your brother in Christ,
Most Reverend David A. Zubik
Bishop of Pittsburgh
